Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (STEP) Pilot Program – Puerto Rico

Notice Recovery Principal provided program management (PM) services, specifically for in-take/registration and eligibility review for applicants applying for the Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (STEP) Pilot Program, a FEMA public assistance temporary housing repair program (also known as the Tu Hogar Renace Program) for Puerto Rico Department of Housing (PRDOH). Within a month period we hired and trained over 200 Puerto Ricans as analysts to ensure eligibility criteria was met for the program.

Over 125,000 applicants were processed, and 100,000 homes were repaired. This program provided temporary repairs to homes, including water and electricity for residents to shelter at home after Maria. FEMA awarded more than $1.7 billion to STEP. We provided support from call center management for the intake and registration, as well as the complaint line to management of task orders, invoice review, and payment to the seven (7) general contractors that were selected for the repairs.
